International technology Group ANDRITZ has received an order from KAMA Karton LLC, Krasnokamsk, Russia to supply a complete production line for folding box board with a basis weight range from 200 to 350 g/m2.

2017 01 19 093503The board machine has an annual capacity of 220,000 tons and is complemented by a new wood handling line, a BCTMP plant with HC bleaching, as well as stock preparation, approach flow, broke, and fiber recovery systems. ANDRITZ will also deliver the Motor Control Center, the Multi Motor Drive and a complete PrimeControl system for the entire line. The line is scheduled to be started up during the first quarter of 2019.

The new wood handling line for aspen will be added to an existing line for birch and is designed for a debarking capacity of 80m3 sob/h. It encompasses a Rotabarker debarking line, an HHQ Chipper with a capacity of 70m3 sub/h, chip screening and a chip silo reclaimer, chip conveyors to BCTMP, a bark line and bark feeding to existing bark conveyors, as well as further transportation to the existing bark and waste handling system.

The new BCTMP line with a design capacity of 360 admt/d contains chip washing, pre-steaming and impregnation units, two high-consistency refining stages, bleaching, washing, screening and reject treatment equipment, a disc filter for thickening purposes, and a storage tower. The stock preparation system handles NBKP and LBKP fibers in two lines and includes two ANDRITZ FiberSolve FSV pulpers, cleaning with two AhlCleaners, and eight ANDRITZ TwinFlo low-consistency disc refiners. The approach flow system is designed for three layers. Broke and fiber recovery systems round off the stock preparation and approach flow systems.

The board machine has three PrimeForm Fourdrinier layers – one containing a PrimeForm HB hybrid former with a wire width of 4,200 mm – and will operate at a design speed of 800 m/min. The press section consists of two PrimePress X shoe presses and one smoothing press. The pre-drying section contains steel drying cylinders and is followed by a PrimeCoat film press with a post-drying section, also equipped with steel drying cylinders. The machine is complemented by two PrimeCal calenders (one hard nip, one soft nip) and a coating section with the latest PrimeCoat roll coating heads technology, as well as a PrimeReel pope reeler and a slitter rewinder at the end.

The entire production line will be equipped with an ANDRITZ PrimeControl system that is aligned to the specific needs of paper machines. It includes extended features for process automation throughout the paper mill and minimizes the number of subsystems and associated interfaces. The advanced Multi Motor Drive system will complement the automation system and ensure reduced energy and power consumption.

Delivery will be handled on an EPS basis, where ANDRITZ provides advisory services relating to installation, commissioning, and training. KAMA will perform the civil and installation work.

International technology Group ANDRITZ has successfully completed the rebuild of a sludge screw press at Stora Enso’s Anjala paper mill in Anjalankoski, Finland.

The turnkey upgrade of the sludge screw press, which has been out of operation for the past few years, included dismantling of the baskets and shaft, rebuild of the baskets with new screen plates, overhaul of the counter-pressure unit, supply of all parts needed for the overhaul, as well as erection of the unit. The upgraded press replaced an existing, outdated sludge dewatering unit.

Prior to award of the order, intensive laboratory sludge tests were conducted by ANDRITZ in order to check the suitability of the screw press for the dewatering capacity needed and the sludge to be processed.

andritz logo smlInternational technology Group ANDRITZ has received an order from Sun Paper Holding Lao Co. Ltd. to supply main production technologies and equipment for a new pulp mill located in the city of Xepon, Lao People's Democratic Republic. Start-up is expected in mid-2018.

The ANDRITZ scope of supply includes:

  • main process equipment for the woodyard, including HHQ-Chipper, chip screening, and bark processing, MC equipment for the complete fiberline, as well as the screening plant and ozone bleaching stage
  • a complete pulp drying line with a TwinWirePress pulp machine, airborne dryer, cutter-layboy, and bale finishing system, the largest High Energy Recovery Boiler (HERB) ever installed in the Lao PDR
  • a LimeWhite white liquor filter for the recausticizing plant
  • a methanol liquefaction system to produce additional fuel for the recovery boiler and lime kiln from gases from the evaporation plant.

The main reasons for Sun Paper to select ANDRITZ as supplier of main technologies for its new pulp mill were both the positive experience from previous joint projects and the state-of-the-art technologies supplied by ANDRITZ to ensure reliable operation and high availability of the pulp mill. ANDRITZ Nonwoven, part of international technology Group ANDRITZ, has received two orders from Fujian NanFang Textile Co., Ltd (PRC) to supply two new neXline spunlace nonwoven lines for its new plant in the city of NanPing, Fujian Province, China. Start-up of both lines, which will produce facial papers and wipes, is scheduled for the first quarter of 2017.

Spunlace line #1 supplied by ANDRITZ will be capable of processing 100% bleached cotton fibers in a crosslapping configuration with an eXcelle card, a Dynamic crosslapper, a drafter and another eXcelle card, including the ProDyn and Isolayer functions, in order to enhance the web profile uniformity and thus save raw materials. For web bonding, ANDRITZ will supply its Jetlace Avantage hydroentanglement unit.

Line #2 is a high-speed spunlace line for processing viscose and polyester fibers. It will have two ANDRITZ TT cards for web forming and a Jetlace Essentiel unit for hydroentanglement. The TT card technology enables drylaid web forming at very high speed. ANDRITZ has a large number of very successful installations with TT card technology around the globe, with more than thirty machines in operation and an average capacity of 20,000 t/a per line. The TT cards for NanFang will be the first to be installed in China.

NanFang has already invested in three spunlace lines in the past, the first of which was installed in 2002.

International technology Group ANDRITZ has received an upgrade order from Sappi North America for a high-capacity debarking line and woodyard equipment to be installed at Sappi’s Somerset Mill in Skowhegan, Maine. The new line will further reduce wood losses and enhance the mill’s reliability and performance. Commissioning of the new line, which has a design capacity of 300 t/h of hardwood chips and 270 t/h of softwood chips, is scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2017.

Over 100 HHQ-Chippers have been sold worldwide since being introduced to the market in 2001. The delivery to Sappi Somerset includes an extra-large (XXL) size chipper. This order is the second order for ANDRITZ in North-America in 2016 for a high-capacity debarking line with HHQ chipping technology.

ANDRITZ’s scope of supply includes upgrade of the log infeed, delivery of a new 38-m long debarking drum with energy-efficient steam de-icing, an extra-large (XXL) HHQ-Chipper with ANDRITZ TurnKnife and ChipperEKG condition monitoring systems, installation of a new scalping screen, and upgrade of the chip handling equipment. ANDRITZ will also deliver an advanced Automation & Industrial Internet package, including optical systems for scanning wood, chips, and bark to optimize the debarking and chip production processes, as well as data acquisition and analysis tools to improve the mill’s operational performance. 

ANDRITZ and Sappi North America have had a good business relationship for many years. Recently, ANDRITZ completed a successful project to convert the Somerset Mill’s lime kiln from oil to gas firing, which resulted in significant savings in energy costs for the mill.

International technology Group ANDRITZ has received an order from Carta Fabril to supply a PrimeLineST W22 tissue machine with steel Yankee and steam-heated hood for its mill in Anápolis, Brazil. Start-up is scheduled for January 2019.

The PrimeDry Steel Yankee delivered by ANDRITZ has a diameter of 22 ft. and thus is the largest for tissue worldwide. The combination with the steam-heated hood enables efficient drying with substantial energy savings and safe operation. The steam-heated hood is equipped with an innovative automatic cleaning system and a dust removal system. The order also includes the complete stock preparation plant, which processes 100% short fiber (Eucalyptus).

International technology Group ANDRITZ has successfully completed the start-up of the second of two supplied PrimeLineTM W8 tissue machines with steel Yankees at the St. Croix tissue mill in Maine, USA.

The machine has a design speed of 2,000 m/min and a width of 5.6 m. The Yankee is manufactured entirely of steel and has a diameter of 18 ft. It enables efficient drying at minimized energy costs and safe operation. As a special feature, the Yankee’s design enables the option of production with shoe press.

Both machines – the first of the two tissue machines started production in the second quarter of 2016 – have an aggregate capacity of 126,000 t/y for the production of hygienic papers and napkin tissues.

International technology Group ANDRITZ has received an order from ZAOR “Narodnoye Predpriyatie Naberezhnye Chelny Paper Mill named after S.P. Titov”, the leading packaging producer in Russia, to upgrade and modernize its PM K-28 paper machine in Chelny. Start-up is scheduled for the first quarter of 2018.

ANDRITZ will deliver a new PrimeCoat Size press with a PrimeAir Glide air turn and a new PrimeReel pope reel with two new under-the-machine pulpers as well as complete new mechanical and electric drives for the paper machine and a new QC system. The new components will enable the mill to further increase its production.

ANDRITZ to supply ATMP system to Volga, Russia

International technology Group ANDRITZ has received an order from JSC Volga in Balakhna, Nizhegorodskaya oblast, Russia, to deliver a complete state-of-the-art ATMP (Advanced Thermo-mechanical Pulp) line, which will process 100% spruce for the production of soft wood pulp. Start-up of the new line, which will be combined with existing equipment, is scheduled for 2019.

The order comprises the supply of the chip washing system, pre-treatment equipment, an ANDRITZ TX68 high-speed high-consistency refiner as a first refining stage, two ANDRITZ TwinFlo low-consistency refiners as second refining stage, as well as the integration of an existing low-consistency refining system as third refining stage. The powerful TX68 with large refining zone delivers the highest throughput available in a single machine. The existing groundwood pulp reject system will be upgraded and integrated into the new ATMP system as reject line. The new ATMP plant will be the world's largest single-line thermo-mechanical pulping system for softwood with a capacity of 850 admt/d.

The advanced technological standard of the ANDRITZ mechanical pulping processes as well as the high reliability of the components were decisive for Volga to place the order with ANDRITZ.
