Siemens Industry has received its first service order for the energy optimization of an industrial plant in China. The customer is Kingdom Holdings Limited, one of the world's largest linen yarn manufacturers. The service order comprises energy analyses, identification of energy-saving potential and implementation of energy-efficient measures in the factory in Haiyan (Zhejiang province) in the southeast of China. The company's investments are expected to pay for themselves within 27 months.

Under the contract the Siemens experts have begun by modernizing the boiler house together with local partners to reduce the consumption of power by 15 percent and coal by 12 percent. Subsequently, the effectiveness of the measures will be verified.

Furthermore, Kingdom and Siemens are planning to extend their collaboration with the aim of continually reducing energy requirements in the entire plant. For example, with Siemens' assistance, the customer intends to implement further energy-saving measures – from the compressors and lighting to the heating, ventilation and air-conditioning systems.
