Bekaert Solaronics is partnering with Bellmer for the installation of a UniDryer® V3 system in PM14 at Technocell Günzach’s paper mill in Germany. The extensive revamp of the paper machine is scheduled to take place in the 4th quarter 2015.

2015 09 29 151129

This installation is part of the Technocell Günzach’s project to expand the production of pre-impregnated papers, a key growth segment. After the rebuild, the paper machine PM14 will produce both pre-impregnated PRIP® as well as nonwoven papers coated on both sides for wallpapers.

The objective of the installation in the Günzach mill is the non-contact drying of a new specialty paper. The UniDryer® V3 offers a rapid heating, high energy efficiency, high compactness and ultimately a better paper quality. The system will be equipped with Gem12E, the latest generation of Bekaert Solaronics emitters that allow an increased drying efficiency by approximately 10 % compared to the regular Gem12 emitters.

Bekaert Solaronics has installed two gas infrared drying UniDryer® V3 systems on PM8 after coaters 1&2 at the Condat paper mill of Lecta Group in France.

The investment is to significantly reduce the energy consumption and hence lower the operational costs. The UniDryer® V3 systems replace the existing electrical infrared dryers and are coupled to the hot air dryers by the ERS concept which uses the exhaust from the UniDryer® V3 as energy source for the hot air dryers.

2015 04 17 113845

The combined infrared and air dryer UniDryer® V3 is a compact system in which high performance gas infrared emitters are alternated with high temperature and velocity air nozzles. The combination of these features results in rapid heating, a high evaporation rate and ultimately in better paper quality.

Both systems are equipped with Gem12E emitters which have proven their excellent efficiency and reliability for the paper and board industry. Today, more than 7 000 Gem12E emitters have already been installed in manufacturing sites of the world’s major paper companies.

Also the ERS concept is increasingly gaining interest because it significantly reduces the energy consumption of hot air dryers.

GemDryerBekaert Solaronics installed a GemDryer®  system with Gem12E emitters at Metsä Board Tako in Finland. The delivery includes also an Energy Recovery System (ERS) to be linked to the air dryer.

The objective of the investment is to replace the existing drying system while reducing the operating costs. Energy savings are guaranteed by the high efficient ERS which uses the exhaust from the infrared dryers as an energy source for the air dryers, as well as the use of new Gem12E emitters that ensure 10% gas savings for identical power transferred to the web.

Innovation and product development are key drivers for Bekaert Solaronics in order to make sure we offer the most advanced solutions to our customers in terms of low operating costs and high quality.

Gem12E benefits from the proven design of the Gem family and from two unique innovative features: the use of a second radiant screen to further improve energy recovery from hot flue gases and a solid ceramic material known for its excellent mechanical properties, optimized thanks to a specific surface treatment to efficiently operate at high temperatures (up to 1 250 °C).
