Stora Enso Langerbrugge Mill located in Gent, Belgium has selected PMT Italia S.p.A. as the supplier for the PM 3 Press Section Upgrade.

The start-up is planned for March 2012. PM3, a 6,5 m wide machine producing SC paper, will be rebuilt by partly replacing the existing Press Section steel framework with a completely new stainless steel one, giving PM3 a longer life time and providing the necessary flexibility for future implementations as well as the development in press technology.

The existing Top Former will also be equipped with a new Cleaning and Mist Removal System.

PMT Italia has been selected by Jiangsu Longheng Paper Co., Ltd. as a key partner for its new duplex board machine project. The new board machine will be installed in the Jiangsu province, close to the town of Xiangshui in the People Republic of China. The Start-up is scheduled for the second quarter of 2012.
 
PMT Italia has been commissioned to supply technological paper machine sections like an M4 Headbox with dilution control, a Shoe Press and a Winder. The new PM1 board machine will be designed to produce Duplex Board in the range of 230 to 450 gsm at a speed of 650 mpm, the trim width at the reel being 4.550 mm.
 
The scope of supply includes the control and automation systems of the related paper machine sections to be integrated into the main MCS and the sectional drive for the Winder together with all erection supervision, commissioning and start-up services.

Thai premium copy paper manufacturer Double A (1991) Public Company Ltd. (known as Advance Agro Public Company Limited) has chosen PMT Italia to supply the Winder for the new PM 3 to its subsidiary company – Advance Paper Mill 3, for its mill in Thatoom, Prachinburi province in Thailand. Startup is scheduled for second quarter 2012.

The winder completes the scope of supply by PMT for the full line. PMT Italia will build complete paper machine from headbox to the winder. The 5,280 m reel wide machine, PM3, will have a capacity of 290.000 tonnes/y. The new machine, designed to run mainly with short fibers, will have an operating speed of 1.300 mpm.

The scope of supply will include together with the complete paper machine all the major auxiliary systems. PMT Italia is proud to be confirmed, by Double A, as winder supplier for this important project focused on the highest paper qualities.

It represents for PMT the recognition of the highest level in fine paper making technology reached as a result of the projects done recently. Moreover it is an opportunity to strengthen and consolidate, once more, its presence as well as to show its capabilities on the Asian markets.

Pinerolo, May 2nd, 2011, during Tissue World in Nice, CMPC Tissue S.A. signed a major service contract with PMT Italia S.p.A. for improving the energy efficiency and performance of nearly all of their Latin American Tissue Machines.

In short, PMT Industries (a subsidiary of PMT Italia S.p.A.) will retrofit at least ten (10) Yankees of varying sizes in CMPC’s tissue mills in Argentina, Chile, Uruguay, Colombia, Mexico and Brazil with new head insulation in order to optimise the drying and energy efficiency throughout their tissue production organization.

With this order, PMT solidifies its status as the premier supplier of Yankee technology worldwide – for retrofit, service as well as new Yankees. The development was driven by the rapidly increasing price of energy supplies as well as environmental and safety concerns. Addressing all those needs was accomplished by focusing the attention on the need for greater efficiency by reducing energy consumption, but without detriment to output.

CMPC will in the future benefit from a design which was developed to ensure that the increase in efficiency does not come at the expense of the machine operation, and the smooth external finish helps with cleanliness on the dryer end, and improves safety in the event that water sprays onto the end face of the Yankee. By retrofitting these Yankees, CMPC is improving their production cost structure, while at the same time further focusing on the environment by ensuring a more efficient and energy saving production process throughout their whole tissue production organization.

The total cost of the project cannot be disclosed, but it is expected that payback is in less than a year for each Yankee retrofit.

The Yuen Foong Yu PM#1 at Hsin Wu mill in Taiwan was successfully started up on February 14th 2011, after PMT Italia had been selected by YFY as a key partner for the supply of machinery and engineering.

The investment focused on machine efficiency and paper quality improvement to the highest targets, implying the rebuild of the key sections of the paper machine.

PMT Italia’s supply included a new PMT M4 Headbox with dilution system for the back ply and the rebuild of the two existing Headboxes, redesign and reconstruction of the Wire Section into a 3 plies Fourdrinier configuration with upgraded Dewatering System. A new Film Size Press was installed along with new After Dryer Section, new Calender and Reel upgrade. The machine runnability was improved in the critical areas of them dryer section also by means of a new Tail Threading through Film Size Press to Reel. A new MCS for the entire Paper Machine control completed the scope of supply of PMT Italia.

The project was successfully driven to the final targets through the tight and efficient cooperation between YUEN FOONG YU and PMT Italia teams.

This result enabled PMT Italia to strengthen its relationship with YUEN FOONG YU and to consolidate its presence in Asia.

The SMARNIP® Shoe Press supplied by PMT Italia S.p.A. to Favini Rossano Veneto machine # 3, Italy, has been started up with success on January 4th 2011.

Few hours after the start up of the machine with the SMARNIP® in operation, the Favini managers have confirmed their satisfaction for the results. The production has been immediately increased by 8 ÷12% maintaining the fine paper high quality standards.

The press rebuild has been managed in a relatively short time thanks to the great cooperation between the Favini and the PMT teams, allowing to meet the programmed shut down and start-up timing.

Also in this case the modularity and the compactness of the SMARNIP® Shoe Press resulted to be the key factor to apply the shoe press technology in a machine with limited space.

For PMT this is the reference number 14, where the SMARNIP® Shoe Press has been applied, in addition to the (53) references where PMT supplied the standard PMT-Shoe Press. The PMT experience in the pressing technology, in four different continents, has been confirmed once more finding the right solution for the specific case.
