Tissue manufacturer enhances its packaging portfolio to offer the global market broader solutions.

Paper Converting Machine Company (PCMC), part of the Barry-Wehmiller Converting Solutions Platform, acquired STAX Technologies (STAX), headquartered in Čačak, Serbia. The acquisition adds reciprocating flow technology to PCMC’s tissue packaging product line offering.

STAX is a market leader in the tissue packaging equipment industry, whose core product offerings include wrappers, bundlers, casepackers and palletizers. Since its entrance into the market more than 15 years ago, STAX has built a global customer base and continues to deliver innovative and cost-effective solutions to the market.

2019 10 04 082031

“This marks a new era for PCMC,” said Sergio Casella, PCMC-Italy President. “By adding STAX’s expertise and capabilities, we are the only manufacturer to offer both reciprocating and continuous flow equipment as well as complete solutions from unwinders through palletizers for customers worldwide.

This acquisition will fuel STAX’s global expansion, as PCMC’s well-established footprint provides the parts and service network customers need in today’s competitive tissue market. “Our field service technicians will now deliver the same exceptional service on STAX equipment like they have on PCMC machines for the last century,” said Casella.

"This new partnership with STAX Technologies provides PCMC with an exciting opportunity to build a stronger, more sustainable global tissue packaging organization,” added Bob Chapman, Barry-Wehmiller Chairman and CEO. “We look forward to working alongside STAX’s team members whom we know will greatly benefit from Barry-Wehmiller’s unique, people-centric culture, financial strength and unwavering commitment to purpose-driven growth.”

The patent-pending SteadyPrint technology monitors and reduces bounce in real time

Paper Converting Machine Company (PCMC), part of Barry-Wehmiller, is pleased to announce the launch of SteadyPrint, a new anti-bounce feature that is now part of the Fusion series of flexographic presses. SteadyPrint helps to mitigate the challenges of bounce and further enhance the Fusion’s ability to produce high-quality output through a wide speed range.

2018 06 27 092427“Printers have historically faced challenges with printing certain bounce-causing attributes of brand images,” shared Dave Wall, PCMC’s Printing, Coating and Laminating Value Stream Leader. “Through a complete review of mechanical and controls design, the team has developed a design package that will help to mitigate those challenges.”

SteadyPrint enhances the design of mechanical elements to minimize the effects of forces experienced during printing. The technology monitors and reduces bounce in real time, reduces press vibration and noise, and allows printing through speed ranges without changing impression.

“PCMC always takes the time to listen to and learn from the industry and our customers,” said Rodney Pennings, PCMC’s Printing, Coating and Laminating Sales Director. “This new technology is something that our customers were telling us was a need. We’re excited to be able to offer this addition to our presses.”

SteadyPrint will be a standard feature on all Fusion presses moving forward. Customers can view this technology in person during Impact, an event hosted by PCMC at its Green Bay headquarters on August 22, 2018.

Customers now can streamline anilox and gravure roll care by bundling cleaning and analysis technology

2018 01 26 075003Paper Converting Machine Company (PCMC)—a division of Barry-Wehmiller and a leading supplier of high-performance converting machinery for the tissue, nonwovens and package-printing industries worldwide—is pleased to announce a strategic partnership with MicroDynamics. The two industry-leading companies are teaming up to provide customers with the option to include MicroDynamics’ 3DQC RollScope as part of a bundled package with PCMC’s Meridian laser anilox cleaner.

The Meridian uses a powerful laser to clean anilox cells without damaging them, resulting in a superior clean, improved print quality, reduced waste and a longer life for anilox rolls.

The 3DQC also reduces waste and downtime, making this bundled package an attractive option for customers. By quickly scanning the surface of anilox and gravure rolls, the 3DQC provides the measurement of cell volume that achieves repeatable results better than plus or minus 1 percent. Featuring microscope control, data collection and a visualization database, the 3DQC’s MicroScan software monitors the volume as the roll wears and reviews the measurement history, enabling customers to precisely track every roll.

“I’m very excited that we’re able to team up with the industry leader of analysis technology,” said Rodney Pennings, Printing, Coating and Laminating Sales Director for PCMC. “We’re thrilled to offer our customers this state-of-the-art tool that will help instill quality control in their tooling inventory, as well as enhance their repeatability. We are looking forward to this collaboration and creating additional value for customers.”

“This opportunity to partner with PCMC is ideal for MicroDynamics, as we promote quality across the printing industry,” said Brent Zurcher, Product Engineer at MicroDynamics. “Being able to pair our technologies means offering streamlined and cost-effective process control for customers.”
