CelluForce, the world leader in the commercial development of NanoCrystalline Cellulose (NCC), also referred to as Cellulose Nanocrystals (CNC), is proud to announce that its Vice President, Chief Technology Officer, Dr. Richard Berry, has been selected as one of Canada’s Clean50 honourees. This award, now in its second year, recognizes the most outstanding leaders in sustainable development and clean capitalism in Canada.
Dr. Berry was recognized in the category of Research & Development for his contribution to the development of NCC/CNC, a high-value nanomaterial that can improve the performance of existing products and enable the development of new ones. NCC/CNC can be economically extracted from wood fiber and improves the strength, durability and toughness of products. It can reduce damage caused by wear, abrasion and light, and has antioxidant properties. Abundant, natural, renewable, recyclable, compostable and biodegradable, NCC/CNC is expected to become a major contributor to the green economy in numerous industrial sectors in the coming decades.
