The international PulPaper organised in Helsinki is one of the leading professional events in the forest industry. After the PulPaper event organised in the summer of 2022, the organisers of the event have held discussions with companies in the field and settled on a completely new concept that serves both companies and professionals in the field even better. The modern PulPaper 2024 event will be organised completely renewed on 10-11 April 2024 at the Helsinki Expo and Convention Centre.

”It is great that PulPaper is at the forefront in the development of professional events. For this, we can thank our main partner the Finnish Forest Products Engineers’ Association and especially the companies in the industry and their contribution to this development. Together we have developed an event where encounters are at the centre. The new concept is cost-effective, easy and sustainable development and responsibility have also been taken into account. The development of the event is now proceeding at a fast pace and we will be able to tell more about the new event in the spring, when companies can start making stand reservations”, says Business Manager Marcus Bergström from the Helsinki Expo and Convention Centre.

A more efficient, sustainable, democratic and agile event concept

The stands will be standardised and ready-made stand solutions for various needs will be produced for companies. The stands are built from completely recyclable structures and special attention is paid to both lighting and the overall appearance. The new way of placing stands in the event area offers equal places for large and small companies. The companies are offered opportunities to be seen even elsewhere in the event area. Participation is cost-effective, sustainable and easy for companies.

Renewed programme and social events

The exhibition part will be shortened to two days, and the scientific conferences will have their own day entirely. The programme stage forms the core of the exhibition and everything takes place in the same space during the exhibition. Outside the company stands, there are various networking places where companies can meet their customers around different themes. The event will be a modern, comfortable and relaxed meeting place where it is easy to network and do business. The evening events will be renewed, and they will focus on a high-quality programme and a first-class level of service.

Revamping the PulPaper brand and marketing

The marketing strategy, brand and visualization of the event will be renewed to be modern without forgetting PulPaper’s current strong brand position. In addition to the traditional products of the forest-based bioeconomy, the event will also showcase new innovative bioproducts, such as wood-based textiles and biochemicals. Start-up companies are also more visible than ever, and the event aims at establishing new kinds of media partnerships.

PulPaper will have a current, high-level conference programme, which will be carried out together with the major players of the sector. The event will also include an exhibition, free information briefings and evening entertainment.

Previous PulPaper events were arranged in 2018 and 2014. Last time PulPaper was a part of a cross-sectoral forest and packaging industry event that had more than 9,200 visitors from over 50 countries around the world. The upcoming PulPaper 2021 will bring together a broader range of companies and experts from different parts of the process industry by cooperating with the chemical and biotechnology industries.

  • On the basis of the enthusiasm, good results and feedback from the exhibitors at 2018 PulPaper, it has been decided that the event will once again be held every three years, which is more suitable for the recurrent needs of the rapidly evolving sector. Similarly, last year's cooperation across industry boundaries was so well received that next time we want to work with chemical operators, says Antti Lindqvist, Managing Director of Forest Products Engineers.

PulPaper is a global meeting place where forest industry professionals from around the world can familiarize themselves with innovations, learn new things and network.

  • The exhibitors have given good feedback about the combination of PulPaper and events of the chemical sector. Messukeskus has many good experiences of combinations of different fields and how these bring added value to the conference participants, exhibition visitors as well as companies of different fields, comments the Sales Team Manager responsible for the Pulpaper and ChemBio Finland events, Marcus Bergström, from the exhibition centre.
  • The wider ensemble of the 2021 event seems rather relevant. From Sulzer's point of view, the event will have a broader and stronger coverage, as our customers belong to the fields of wood raw material -based processes, chemical industry as well as biofuels. Sulzer Pumps and Sulzer Chemtech are strong operators in these fields, says Reijo Vesala, Head of Business Segment Pulp, Paper and Board Industry, Sulzer.

PulPaper–- the leading international event in the forest industry’s calendar will be held at Messukeskus in Helsinki on 2729 April 2021 in cooperation with Forest Products Engineers. The leading Nordic chemical and biological event ChemBio Finland and the international chemical safety expert forum Helsinki Chemicals Forum will be held on 27–28 April 2021.

PulPaper looks to the future of the forest industry

PulPaper is the leading international event in the forest industry’s calendar, and will be held at Messukeskus in Helsinki on 29–31 May 2018. The event acts as a global meeting place where visitors can get a comprehensive overview of the latest forestry technology. The previous event attracted visitors from a total of 70 different countries, and exhibitors from 30 countries are expected at PulPaper 2018.

PulPaplogopvm600pxThe event was last held in 2014. Preparations for the 2018 event are now in full swing with regard to both the programme and sales. New technologies and innovations from start-ups will also be on display at the event.

Three other events will also be held at the same time as PulPaper: Wood, a new event in the field of mechanical wood processing; PacTec Helsinki, a packaging industry event; and the brand-new Bioenergy.

In addition to comprehensive coverage of fields in the forest industry, the event programme as a whole also covers the packaging, energy and chemical industries to offer visitors and participating companies a chance to meet actors from many different industries.

“Together, the events form a vast, synergetic programme in which each field supports the others. There is nothing comparable anywhere else in the world, and this new event programme supports integration within the forestry cluster. PulPaper offers a unique opportunity for uniting different fields in the forest industry,” says Messukeskus Sales Team Manager Marcus Bergström, who is in charge of the events.

“PulPaper has received an enthusiastic reception. Almost all of the leading forest companies and equipment suppliers in the forest and packaging industries are attending, and their commitment has also encouraged other companies to reserve their exhibition spaces well ahead of the event,” says Hanna Koskela, Sales Manager.

What does the future of the industry look like?

The event’s theme – Visit tomorrow today – is clearly focused on the future. The programme includes both paid conferences and free lectures. Topics in PulPaper’s conference programme include the circular economy, 3D printing, the bioeconomy, climate change, digitalisation, and the opportunities afforded by the industrial internet. Practical examples from companies bring a concrete aspect to these visions of the future.

Business Forum – a new seminar package targeted at company management – will be held on the opening day. Its speakers will be forefront opinion leaders from both Finland and abroad, and their topics will range from consumer habits to change management, and from innovation to sustainable development.

The exhibition area’s Future Square stage will run a free programme focusing on the opportunities afforded by the bioeconomy and career outlooks for industry students. The programme will also be supplemented with visits to pioneering companies in the industry, such as the new bioproduct mill in Äänekoski.

“Thanks to numerous new investments, the future looks bright for Finnish advancements in the bioforest industry. A lot of new things have been happening in the industry, and new products have come on the market. Expectations are high for the new event programme. PulPaper will have an extremely interesting and diverse conference programme reflecting the positive developments in the industry,” says Antti Lindqvist, CEO of Puunjalostusinsinöörit ry.

The forest, packaging, energy and chemical industry events PulPaper, Wood, PacTec Helsinki and Bioenergy will be held at Messukeskus in Helsinki on 29–31 May 2018.
