Asia Pulp and Paper Group (APP) and A.Celli Group: 2015 is marked by several events that seal an important relationship.
At the start of the year, an important order to A.Celli Paper by Asian Group APP, one of the major global paper and cellulose producers, was finalized. Five tissue rewinders that will be assigned to two different facilities belonging to the customer in China.
The rewinders model AC 882 are characterized by a paper format of 5,630 millimetres and attain working speeds of up to 1,400 m/min with paper that goes from 12.5 to 45 g/m2. With a parent reel diameter of 3,100 millimetres, the customer obtains a finished roll having a max diameter of 2,250 millimetres.
This order is the demonstration of the good business relationship that exists between the two groups as well the natural confirmation of repeat orders for other supplies in the past, such as the tissue machines purchased at regular intervals in 2005, in 2008 until the order in 2013 that included four systems, all delivered in 2014 and one already in production.
All this goes to confirm how A.Celli Paper is a valid supplier for every customer, and that it can meet diverse demands and obtain the loyalty of even large Groups having special requests such as APP, building long-term relationships based on mutual trust and on recognition of their respective competences and expertise.

Ground-breaking Material Tipped to Cut Factory Fire Risk
The packaging and print industry could be markedly safer in future thanks to a ground-breaking new material created by a South Wales company.
KV Rollers, based in Cwmbran, is a leading manufacturer of rubber rollers and of rubber polymers for use in the print, packaging, food handling and advanced engineering industries, and if you use cash, drive a car, read magazines or drink branded spirits then you have, albeit indirectly, come into contact with their products.
Their chemical engineers work at the cutting edge of polymer science to make print works and factories safer and more productive, and to help firms to innovate.
One of KV Rollers’ most exciting new developments has been Kalexite – a roller covering with superior anti-static properties, which the company believes will slash the risk of factory fires, while boosting productivity for its users.
In developing Kalexite, technologists used a recently introduced grade of base-polymer, to produce a formulation matching the Eltex GNN75 requirement which requires a non-black/non-marking single layer conductive sleeve system with a hardness spec of 80-85 shore (A scale), exhibiting a corresponding surface conductivity of 10-30 mega ohms @ 120 volts.
KV Rollers director Kevin Lower says the material, which was the result of hundreds of man hours in the lab and in production, could revolutionise the print and packaging industries and to become the standard solution for many other applications as well.
“Here at KV Rollers we have built our success and our good reputation upon developing market-leading new polymers and rubber products, and Kalexite is an innovation we are particularly excited about.
“We believe it has the potential to make the paper and packaging industries a much safer place due to its superior anti-static properties, which reduce the risk of sparking and ignition.
He explained: “Print and paper rollers operate at increasingly high speeds, often coming into contact with static generating substrates, so the risk of ignition and of subsequent fire is high.
“Kelexite has the potential for many extended uses within a range of printing, mechanical handling and film packaging-based applications, where high levels of airborne volatiles prohibit the presence of sparking or other ignition sources.”
He continues: “As well as being a potential boon to safety Kalexite is proving its worth as far as performance quality and longevity too, which has an impact upon manufacturing costs and, importantly, upon profit margins.
“I believe Kalexite is the next generation of this kind of rubber compound.

The idea was to create two specific companies – A.Celli Paper S.p.A. and A.Celli Nonwovens S.p.A., the first dedicated to tissue, flat papers and cardboard and the second to nonwovens. A continuous growth that set the foundations for the creation of the A.Celli Group, opening the way to major development in terms of visibility and results for both business areas.
GL&V settles with former employees
In the spring of 2013 GL&V sued three former employees and their newly formed company C Inventing AB as well as the company's representative for patent infringement. In the lawsuit for the patent case GL&V pointed out to the defendants that they had used GL&V proprietary mixing technology for their own benefit.
GL&V also sued the former employees at the Labor Court for having violated the Duty of Loyalty to the employer and during their employment engaged in a competing business through their company C Inventing AB.
The defendants denied patent infringement and filed an opposition to the validity of GL&V's patent. The former employees claimed that they had not breached the Duty of Loyalty in their employment.
The parties have subsequently reached a settlement.
In the settlement it has been clarified that the defendants admit that GL&V has patent protection against the defendants’ manufacturing and selling GL&V’s proprietary mixing technology to a Swedish pulp & paper mill. The former employees also in the labor dispute admitted that they breached the Duty of Loyalty under the current collective bargaining agreement. The defendants have also agreed to a payment to GL&V as a financial settlement of both cases.
